Cylburn Arboretum Friends is seeking an individual who desires to learn the skills of a professional gardener, obtain hands-on experience in the area of public horticulture, and gain a better understanding of public garden management. The successful candidate will work alongside Cylburn Arboretum’s head gardener and staff on the grounds and gardens of the Arboretum horticultural zone. Interaction with volunteers and general public is often required but will be handled with pandemic sensitivity. This position offers an extraordinary opportunity to learn the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), sound care of Cylburn’s specimen tree collections and perennial gardens, and to sharpen landscape design abilities while becoming intimately familiar with plants and their needs. This is a paid position sponsored by the Cylburn Arboretum Friends, the Horticultural Society of Maryland, and the Federated
Garden Clubs of Maryland.
