Horticulture Internship 2026 Applications Open!

CYLBURN FIELD EXPERIENCE IN HORTICULTURE-2026

Cylburn Arboretum Friends is seeking an individual interested in gaining hands-on experience in the field of public horticulture, learning professional gardening skills, and developing a deeper understanding of public garden managementThe successful candidate will work alongside Cylburn Arboretum’s head gardener and staff in the Arboretum’s horticultural zone, assisting with the care of specimen tree collections, perennial gardens, and other landscaped areas. Responsibilities will include practicing Integrated Pest Management (IPM), performing seasonal garden maintenance, and contributing to landscape design projects. Interaction with volunteers and the public is part of the role.

This paid position is sponsored by Cylburn Arboretum Friends, the Horticultural Society of Maryland, and the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.

Position Details

  • Schedule: August/September 2026 – June 2027 (start and end dates flexible)
  • Hours: 12–20 hours/week (average 15 hours/week)
  • Compensation & Benefits: $16 hourly rate; benefits include paid time off, professional development opportunities, and the chance to work in one of Baltimore’s premier public gardens with mentorship from experienced horticulture staff.
