‘Where Baltimore Grows’ Speaker Series
September 19 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
This session will dive into future-forward solutions that can support urbanization and nature-based infrastructure and better prepare communities for the impacts of climate change. The talk will define nature-based solutions and how these practices support natural biodiversity in the built environment while promoting adaptation and resilience. The discussion will dive heavily into the role of coastal cities in advancing this work – with an emphasis on frontline communities already experiencing the early consequences of climate change, particularly from flooding and extreme heat. Sonia will share her direct knowledge on these projects working with the world’s leading environmental organizations. She will present prime examples of this work – highlighting the challenges of divided cities and discussing opportunities to incorporate strong foundational relationships at the neighborhood level to ensure long-term success.
