Have you ever walked the grounds at Cylburn Arbore Have you ever walked the grounds at Cylburn Arboretum and noticed a sweet, woodsy scent in the air? It might be coming from an Incense Cedar! Native to the mountains of the western United States, these trees are known for their fragrant foliage and aromatic wood.

You might even use a piece of incense cedar every day: pencils! With its straight, uniform grain and soft, workable wood, incense cedar has long been a preferred material for pencil making. Here at Cylburn, you can find two California Incense Cedars along the shortcut path from the Greenhouse parking lot to the Mansion.
