NEC Drop-in: Signs of the Seasons

September’s theme, Flowers of Cylburn, focuses on the flowers and flowering plants found throughout Cylburn Arboretum. Each Saturday will look at a different part of flowering plant biology, from flower structure and color to seasonal changes and seeds.

All ages are welcome. No fee or registration required (supplies limited). Drop-in anytime between 11am to 12pm.

September 5: What’s Inside a Flower?

Flowers are more than just petals. Drop by the Nature Education Center to investigate the different parts of a flower and learn how flowering plants reproduce.

September 12: Colors of Cylburn

Flowers come in many different colors, patterns, shapes and sizes. Drop by the Nature Education Center to learn about the colors found in flowers and plants throughout Cylburn Arboretum.

September 19: Signs of the Seasons

The timing of flowering, fruiting, leaf color and other natural events changes throughout the year. Drop by the Nature Education Center to learn about phenology and look for signs of the changing seasons at Cylburn Arboretum.

September 26: Seeds on the Move

Seeds come in many different shapes and sizes, each with different ways of getting around. Drop by the Nature Education Center to investigate seeds, pods and cones and learn how seeds travel to new places.
