Educating people about the natural world and their responsibility for that world is our core mission, no matter age or particular interest. Cylburn Arboretum is a natural laboratory that begs our visitors to explore, discover, and learn. We are building a broad platform for learning for all – children or adults.
Education Wrap-Up – Spring 2022
This Spring we hosted 24 groups for field trip visits to Cylburn. Notably, we continued to cultivate our relationships with Park Heights Academy and Pimlico Middle/Elementary who brought student groups out regularly to the arboretum. Park Heights Academy brought both their 2nd and 3rd grades. We worked with the Pimlico Social Worker with groups of elementary and middle school students all spring. Pimlico also came with the 1st grade.

Docent Training
Spring docent training began in February for 11 volunteer docents to prepare them to assist or lead Cylburn’s “Habitats” field trip. Some of our docents are retired educators and lawyers, some are gardeners, naturalists, literary artists, and interior designers. They brought a broad array of knowledge and perspectives to our field trips, while sharing in a common love of nature. They are extremely important to our program.
